The Small Boat Crewman’s Course of Instruction is designed to introduce basic seamanship skills, such as nautical terminology and safe and effective line handling/knot tying, to armed security officers as required for their role as a small boat crewman in a maritime security company. This comprehensive training covers a range of relevant topics, including shipyard safety equipment and policies, an overview of our security mission in support of regional ship repair facilities, proper watch-standing procedures, and the company’s Waterborne Security Officer promotion pipeline. Through a combination of classroom lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, and practical application, students will develop the confidence and competence needed to effectively operate as a Crewman and Waterborne Security Officer (WSO-1).
